The Bahamas has its own local Classification of Goods based on the Trade Marks Rules of 1948. Services are not accommodated under these provisions. The anticipated accession to the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks will modernise Trade Marks in The Bahamas. The Nice Agreement will be incorporated under the awaited new Trade Mark laws.

Application

  • Authorisation Form(s), signed and sealed by the Owner/Applicant.
  • Name, domicile, address and nature of business of the Owner/Applicant.
  • List of Goods to be claimed in the application.
  • An electronic sample of the Logo.

Renewal

  • Authorisation Form(s), signed and sealed by the Owner/Applicant.
  • Registration date and number of mark to be renewed.
  • Confirmation of the name and address of the Owner/Applicant.

Assignment

  • Authorisation Form(s), signed and sealed by the Assignor or Assignee.
  • Joint request signed and sealed by Assignor and Assignee including name, number¬†and date of registration of the marks covered.
  • Assignment signed by Assignor and Assignee.

Change of Name or Address

  • Authorisation Form(s), signed and sealed by the Owner/Applicant.
  • Certified copy of the Certificate of Change of Name.
  • Registration number and date of mark effected.
  • Identification of new address.
